Hyatt plans to expand its presence in 11 leisure markets across the Americas by 2023. This is aided by its recent acquisition, Apple Leisure Group.
A total of 45 hotels will join America’s group portfolio by next year. This includes properties under Apple Leisure Group’s AMR Collection brand.
Hyatt will expand its Hyatt Centric portfolio in 2022 to new destinations such as Montreal and San Salvador. Hyatt also plans to add Hyatt Place hotels throughout Mexico City, Monterrey, and Gainsville and Hyatt Place properties in Panama City, St Augustine, Montreal, Panama City, and Montreal.
The group will also include the 44-room Numu from Mexico’s San Miguel de Allende in its Unbound Collection for this year.
Hyatt plans to also “significantly increase its resort and all-inclusive portfolio across the Americas,” with 2022 openings that include Dreams Cozumel Cape Resort and spa, Secrets Impression Playa del Carmen Resort, and Spa and Secrets Tulum Resort and SPA, and Banyan Cay Resort and Golf. These will be added to the Destination by Hyatt branding.
The group will also be acquiring properties such as Dreams Grand Island in Cancun and Park Hyatt Los Cabos Hotel & Residences, Hyatt Place New Smyrna Beach, and Secrets Baby Beach Aruba.
Hyatt will also add properties to meet the demand for urban leisure and drivable destinations, including Thompson Austin Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City and Thompson Denver and Hyatt house Sacramento Midtown.
In Memphis, the group will also open its first property under its new Lifestyle Caption by Hyatt brand later in the year.
Jim Chu, Hyatt executive vice president for global franchising and development, commented on the news.
Listening to our customers, World of Hyatt members, guests, and others has never been more critical. We will continue to recover from the pandemic. However, we will remain vigilant about the Hyatt brand footprint to ensure that we are present in the markets most important to leisure-oriented travelers of tomorrow and today.
“Our new properties indicate that Hyatt has the resources to meet the growing demand for leisure travel experiences in places like Cozumel, Panama City, and Punta Cana. We also have priority urban destinations like Denver, Montreal, and Oakland. The first Caption by Hyatt hotel will be open.”
