In the early hours of today, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a lengthy letter claiming that there was a political plot to be behind the violence. He also suggested that the number killed could be greater than.

Mamata Banerjee had urged the Governor “to refrain from making unwarranted statements and allow the administration to conduct an impartial probe” following the release of the video on the rights of human beings were “decimated”, and rule of law has been “capsized” in the State. In a sly attack on the ruling party, he declared that the government is “required to rise above partisan interests” that he claimed was “not being reflected in reality”.

“This is a trick to protect the perpetrators of this horrific crime. Already , there is enough information being reported about those who committed this crime of ugliness. Furthermore, your claim that “investigation will do everything to uncover the perpetrators behind this event” is a far cry from reality,” the GovernorGovernor wrote on Twitter and added a “Politically caged” investigation in the State does not inspire confidence.

The Centre has demanded an investigation into the alleged violence in the political arena. The BJP has also sent an investigation team to investigate the largest violence incident since Mamata Banerjee’s massive victory in the last election.

The burned bodies of eight individuals were found on Tuesday morning after homes were burned in the village of West Bengal’s Birbhum protests over the suspected murder of the Trinamool Congress leader.
